There are a significant number of new residential units being proposed for Belleville.
On Monday the city’s Planning Advisory Committee will hold initial public meetings for 3 development plans that if approved
and constructed would provide a total of 222 new residential units.
The first proposal is for vacant land and the southeast corner of Sidney Street and Bell Boulevard.
The applicant is asking for an Official Plan amendment and rezoning to allow a 4 storey apartment
building with 74 units plus 89 townhouses for a total of with 163 units.
Plans for the ground floor of the apartment building include a bar, restaurant, and health club.
The second application involves involves a 3 storey addition to an existing 3 storey commercial/residential
building at 317 Front Street in the Downtown District. The existing building has 10 apartments and the addition
would add another 6 units.
And the third application for zoning changes involves a large parcel of vacant land at the corner of north Palmer Road
and Moira Street West, immediately east of Wilson Avenue which runs of off Sidney Street.
The applicant hopes to build a subdivision consisting of 82 houses and 71 townhouses for a total of 153 units.
The city has not received any written public comment on any of the proposals.
The Planning Advisory Committee will not be making any decisions on the applications at Monday’s meeting.
After public input staff will provide recommendation reports to committee at a future date.
