One of the Gleaners Food Bank’s largest fundraisers came to an exciting close Friday morning.
On Mix 97, Susanne Quinlan, the Director of Operations for Gleaners, announced the winner of the annual Shamrocks on the Wall fundraiser.
Over the last month, with a donation of $5 to the food bank, your name was put into a draw for two ounces of gold, donated by Michael Moffat of RBC Dominion Securities
Quinlan says this was well timed.
“Of course we need the money, we’re up almost 50% at the food bank. So we’d like to thank everybody who donated to the shamrock, all my volunteers and all the vendors.”
She says with the high cost of inflation and groceries and utilities, it can be a deal breaker for many.
There are many new families making their way to utilize local food banks.
The money collected will go to support the purchase of food.
This year’s winner of the two ounces of gold was Brandon MacLeod.
About $15,000 was raised during the campaign.
