Residents of Hastings Manor in Belleville will have new equipment to improve their care.
Friday Bay of Quinte riding MPP Todd Smith announced over $61,000 for specialized equipment for residents suffering from bariatric issues (obesity) and for those with other complex care needs.
Director of Long Term Care for Hastings County Erin Chapman describes the equipment.
“The funding has allowed us to purchase two specialized bariatric beds, six transfer repositioning slings for bariatric residents, and a new bariatric lift.”
The new equipment will improve the comfort, treatment, and safety of the residents, and help staff avoid injury when providing care.
The bariatric care equipment is one of 189 projects being funded in long term care homes across the province to improves residents’ lives.
The provincial government’s goal is to eventually provide 4 hours of direct care per resident per day in all long term care homes.
