Another dedicated team of medical professionals has received special recognition from the Board of Directors of Quinte Health.
At a board meeting Tuesday at Trenton Memorial Hospital, TMH’s perioperative team received the Values in Action Award.
The Perioperative Team was facing a backlog of patients waiting for cataract surgery and Quinte Health found money to pay for a second cataract suite.
But to make operating two cataract units feasible, the Perioperative Team changed shifts and involved other medical staff in the work.
The strategy worked in that it’s expected 500 more cataract surgeries will be performed this year than in 2022.
