Tri-Board Student Transportation Services reports that daily operations of school buses will not be affected even if some of its employees go on strike.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says the seven employees it represents are set to walk off the job in a legal strike on April 3.
Six of the seven members of CUPE local 1479 are transportation planners.
Tri-Board says a strike will have no impact on the safe operations of school buses since it does not directly employ drivers, monitors, or mechanics.
Emails and phone calls to Tri-Board will continue to be answered though it may take longer to return messages and transportation applications may take longer than usual to be processed.
CUPE says the route planners are being paid 19% less than the going rate while Tri-Board counters the union is seeking parity with jobs with significantly greater responsibilities.
Tri-Board says it is offering a 3.7% salary increase over four years.
Also included is an offer of 22 days vacation for new employees, up from the current 17.
Updates to the status of the strike will be shared on triboard.ca and through their social media channels.
