A senior officer with the Belleville Police Service has received one of the most prestigious awards offered by the organization.
At a meeting of the Belleville Police Services Board Thursday Chief Mike Callaghan presented Inspector Sheri Meeks with the Community Builder Award.
The award is presented to an officer who has dedicated time and effort over a period of years to bettering the community.
Among the many organizations Inspector Meeks has been or is connected with are the United Way of Hastings-Prince Edward, Polar Plunge, Torch Run, the IMPACT Team, Children’s Safety Village, the Enrichment Centre for Mental Health, and 100 + Women Who Care Quinte.
Meeks has been with the police service for 27 years.
