Belleville police responded to 193 calls for service between 5 a.m. on March 10, 2023 and 5 a.m. on March 13, 2023.
Assault and Utter Threats
On March 10, 2023 at 11 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Forin St. for a report of disturbance. Police attended the area and conducted an investigation that revealed Joseph Smoke, a 45-year-old Belleville resident assaulted another male within a residence. Smoke was arrested for assault and uttering threats and was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was being held for bail.
Arrested on Warrants
On March 10, 2023 at 1:50 p.m., police, while on uniform patrol, observed a male known to them who was wanted on outstanding warrants from the Belleville Police Service. Manos Tsichlas, a 69-year-old Belleville resident was arrested on the strength of the warrants and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for bail. The warrants were for fail to attend court x 2, possess substance: trafficking CDSA and possession of stolen property under $5000.
Arrest – Unlawfully in a Dwelling
On March 12, 2023 at 3:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of Farnham Road for a report of an unwanted female in a residence. Police attended the area and conducted an investigation that revealed a 28-year-old Bancroft female unlawfully entered a residence and was found in the kitchen. This was the third time police dealt with this female during the same night. Police learned that the female had made her way from Bancroft to Belleville in hopes of securing lodging at Grace Inn however she was unsuccessful. Police arrested her for being unlawfully in a dwelling and transported her to the Belleville Police Service. She was later released unconditionally and transported back to Bancroft.
Break and Enter
On March 12, 2023 at 4:07 a.m., police attended an address on Front St in regards to a break and enter. An unknown suspect broke into an access door and entered a small apartment building. It appears the suspect used some narcotics and then left, leaving drug paraphernalia behind. The investigation is continuing.
