The Lehigh Valley Phantoms slipped past the Belleville Senators 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.
John Quenneville and Roby Jarventie scored for the Senators.
The Sens opened scoring early in the first period, but the Phantoms came back late in the frame to even things out. The Senators took their lead back in the second frame, and the Phantoms responded by scoring again to even things out. The Senators managed to slip in another goal before the second period ended to take the lead once again.
The Phantoms were able to tie the game in the third period, forcing the game into overtime, where they scored again to secure the win.
Belleville Senators interim head coach David Bell was critical of the team’s lack of aggression.
“To be quite honest, we had our opportunities to win the game. I didn’t think our forward group and specifically our power play was intense enough and focused enough,” said Bell. “When you get opportunities like that you got to stomp on them in overtime and there was just not enough execution.”
The Senators face the Utica Comets on Wednesday at the CAA Arena.
