The Utica Comets slipped past the Belleville Senators 4-3 in overtime on Friday night.
Lassi Thompson, Angus Crookshank, and Egor Sokolov scored for the Sens.
The Senators opened scoring with two goals in the first period, but the Comets evened the score at 2-2 before the end of the frame. During the second, the Senators took their lead back, and held onto it until early in the third when the Comets tied the game and later forced them to go to overtime. During overtime, the Comets scored first and took the win.
Belleville Senators interm head coach David Bell said his team fought hard during the game.
“It was a hard-fought game. The effort was there. The goaltending was there. It was just unfortunate we didn’t get the two points,” said Bell.
The Belleville Senators travel to face the Leigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday night.
