A Belleville native is about to be enshrined in a Hall of Fame in West Virginia.
Brock Woods will join longtime NHL coach Peter Laviolette in the Wheeling Hockey Hall of Fame Class for 2022-23.
The 51-year-old Woods was a Belleville Bobcat before playing most of his OHL career with the Kingston Frontenacs.
Three of his five seasons in the East Coast Hockey League were spent with the Wheeling Thunderbirds where he scored 37 goals and 85 assists in 193 games. Woods was the team captain in the 94-95 season.
Folowing his playing days Woods served as the Thunderbirds color commentator on radio. He is still active in the Wheeling Amateur Hockey Association.
Woods still resides in Wheeling with his wife Cari and three children – son Tommy, and daughters Shanley and Lala.
