Home sales across the Quinte region in February were significantly down from the year before.
The Quinte & District Association of Realtors reports 196 units were sold last month, a decline of 34.5% from February 2022.
Sales over the first two months of the year were also down with year-to-date sales totalling 336 units, a decrease of 40.7% from the same period last year.
Association President Natasha Huizinga says sales activity has been muted since declining over the first half of last year but has kept within range of longer term historical averages.
The $605,000 average price of a home sold in February 2023 was down 22.3% from February 2022.
The dollar value of all home sales in February 2023 was $118.6 million, a substantial decline of 49.1% from the same month in 2022.
Listings continue to climb, there were 686 active residential listings on the market at the end of February, more than double the levels from last year.
New listings saw a moderate gain of 5.2% over 2022 with 367 new residential listings in February 2023.
Huizinga says new listings were still 7.6% above the five-year average and 4.8% above the 10-year average for the month of February.
