With food, housing, and other prices rising with inflation more people than ever are using the services offered by food banks.
At Gleaners Food Bank in Belleville the demand for food has increased by 50% from a couple of years ago and it’s hoped donations to the annual Shamrocks on the Wall fundraiser event will increase as well.
Until the end of March people can buy shamrocks for $5 at various locations in the city and enter a draw to win two ounces of gold donated by Michael Moffat of RBC Wealth Management.
The winner of the gold will be drawn live on air during the Mix 97 Morning Show by Honorary Leprechaun, Sean Kelly, on March 31.
