Serious charges have been laid against a Madoc Township woman, following a police chase yesterday (March 5, 2023).
A vehicle was reported to be travelling north on Highway 62 at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic.
The vehicle accelerated and took off from police, who tried to stop the driver.
Eventually, the driver was forced to stop at an intersection, blocked by additional officers.
Central Hastings OPP charged Meagan Ferguson with
· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
· Flight from peace officer
· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose – two counts
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
· Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition – two counts
· Failure to Comply with Probation Order – two counts
· Possession of a Scheduled 1 Substance
· Disobey Stop Sign
· Fail to Surrender Licence
· Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on March 6, 2023 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
