Members of the Prince Edward County OPP dealt with impaired-related offences over the weekend.
On Sunday March 5, 2023 shortly after 1:30 a.m,. officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 near County Road 3 in Rossmore when a vehicle entered the program. Upon speaking with the driver an approved screening device was administered and as a result, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing, John Fincham, age 51 from Marysville was charged with operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). He was released and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 12, 2023. Healso had his licence suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.
On Monday March 6, 2023 shortly after 12 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle near Lalor Street in Picton for a traffic-related offence. Further investigation led to the administration of an approved screening device. As such, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. Maria Meillon, age 37, from Prince Edward County, was charged with operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). She was released and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 12, 2023. She also had her licence suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.
