The Belleville Senators slipped past the Rochester Americans 3-2 on Saturday night at CAA Arena.
Angus Crookshank, Matthew Boucher, and Jared Lukosavicius scored for the Sens.
The Senators claimed an unanswered goal in the first period, and worked hard to keep it in the second, matching the Americans point for point and keeping their lead alive going into the third. During the third, the Senators fell back on their strong defence, refusing to give the Americans any ground and keeping them at bay until the game ended.
Senators interm head coach David Bell said both teams played well.
“That kind of had a playoff feel. I thought the first period was fast up and down the ice. It was really fast-paced, and then it got chippy, which is fine, and the guys responded to that and we had a little slip there and let them back in the game. But I thought it was a hard-played hockey game on both sides,” said Bell.
The Senators face the Laval Rocket on Wednesday.
