The Belleville Senators defeated the Rockford IceHogs 4-1 to end their season series against them at the CAA Arena.
John Quenneville, Angus Crookshank, Egor Sokolov, and Cole Cassels scored for the Senators.
The IceHogs claimed the only goal in the first period at almost 15 minutes in, but the Senators weren’t going to let that stand. Coming back in the second period the Senators tied the game, before an explosive three-point third period left the Ice Hogs in the dust.
Belleville Senators interim head coach David Bell praised his team’s work on defence.
“I think defence wins, right? You can’t guarantee goals, goalies make saves, but you can guarantee guys being in good spots defensively. I thought, for the most part, we were tonight. Obviously, our penalty kill was enormous tonight. It’s been climbing lately, and tonight, I think it won us the hockey game,” said Bell.
The Senators host the Rochester Americans tonight at 7:05.
