Food trucks are getting more mobile in Prince Edward County.
During Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, council members reviewed by-law changes that would allow food trucks to move around the county during the season.
Previous licences to operate mobile restaurants required the truck to be parked at a single location for the entire season.
Under the new system, applicants can seek a licence that allows the truck to operate in multiple places, moving around between multiple spots as needed.
An example given at the meeting was of a burger truck selling at the marina on weekdays and at the farmer’s market on weekends.
Another new category of licence applies to vehicles such as ice cream vans that drive constantly and only stop briefly to serve customers.
The original type of licence for a single location is still available, for food trucks that intend to remain at one location for the entire season.
