Members of the Quinte Economic Development Commission’s Board of Directors were happy to hear the news that Belleville council has begun the process of getting over 600 acres of land approved for industrial use in the Northeast Industrial Park.
The Chief Executive Officer for the QEDC Chris King said if the area wants to grow economically with more jobs, the more serviced industrial land there is, the better.
“If you look at investment in the automotive sector, in electric vehicles in Ontario, the last year has been fantastic and there’s still more opportunities coming. There’s going to be tons of opportunities coming and having serviced industrial land is going to be key to capturing some of those opportunities.”
The City of Quinte West is currently working to service about 60 acres of land around Carrying Place for industrial use.
In other news from the Quinte Economic Development Commission the new Chair of the Commission’s Board of Directors is the mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander.
He takes over the position from Belleville realtor Tim McKinney.
