Belleville Police Service responded to 65 calls for service in the 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 27, 2023 to 5 a.m. on February 28, 2023.
Impaired driver
On February 28, 2023 at 1 a.m., police observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed while running a stop sign in the area of Tripp Avenue and Moira Street West. Police stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver appeared to have been drinking. Police had the driver provide a breath sample which he failed. Matthew Goheen, 36, of Quinte West was charged with operation while impaired and over 80mgs. His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. He will appear in court on March 23, 2023.
