The Tweed Fire Department dealt with an unusual emergency situation Saturday morning.
An elk went through the ice on a small pond in the area of highways 7 and 37.
Firefighters responded with some ending up in the freezing water to attach ropes to the struggling animal and happily they safely managed to pull it up and back to safety.
