Decisions involving too many students in some schools and too few in others are again on the horizon for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board.
The Board will be asked to approve a long and detailed Long-Term Capital and Accommodation plan at its meeting Monday.
The plan shows Harmony Public, and Centennial and Bayside secondary schools as being overcapacity while many others, especially Trenton High School, are being underutilized.
The plan offers options such as changing school boundaries and adding portables, however, before any changes are made an accommodation review involving public input is necessary.
Currently there is a moratorium on school closures and consolidations.
The report also shows enrolment at both elementary and secondary levels is expected to modestly increase over the next 10 years while the average age of the board’s school is 61 years.
School renewal costs over five years are estimated at around $214 million.
