A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight in the Quinte region.
This winter weather travel advisory has been upgraded from a special weather statement that was previously in effect.
Hazards:
Snow heavy at times with total accumulations near 10 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 centimetres per hour.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow and slippery surfaces due to accumulating snow.
Strong southeasterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h tonight followed by strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h Tuesday.
Timing:
Early this evening to early Tuesday morning.
Discussion:
Snow is expected to begin early this evening and may be heavy at times. The snow may become mixed with ice pellets after midnight before tapering to light snow, drizzle or freezing drizzle by early Tuesday morning.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
