Two men from Quebec have been arrested after a Prince Edward County couple lost around $8,000 in the “grandparent scam” Thursday.
The fraud involves victims being told by someone that a grandchild needs immediate financial help because they are in trouble with the law somewhere.
The couple complained to Prince Edward County OPP and officers arrested two men, one 64 and the other 22, later Friday as they were leaving the victim’s residence after trying to scam them for another $9,500.
Both men were held for a bail hearing Saturday.
