Active cases of COVID-19 took a slight dip while there was a rise in cases of influenza in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties last week.
In its weekly update, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 106 new high-risk cases of COVID were diagnosed with 126 cases currently active – the latter number down from 137 last week.
Twelve people are currently in hospital with three in intensive care, down from 17 hospitalized and two in ICU.
There are currently six ongoing outbreaks in high-risk facilities, up one.
The number of COVID deaths remains unchanged at 109.
The public health flu and respiratory illness dashboard calls flu activity across the two counties moderate at this time and shows seven new lab-confirmed cases of influenza A bringing the total for this season to 185.
There is also one new institutional outbreak related to respiratory or other illness.
Emergency department visits due to flu-like illness were down accounting for 1.72% of all visits.
