Belleville Police Service responded to 271 calls for service in the 96-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 17, 2023 to 5 a.m. on February 21, 2023.
Impaired driver
On February 18, 2023 at approximately 2:35 a.m., Belleville police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver leaving a North Front Street gas station. A short time later, police received information of a single vehicle collision north of the city. Upon officers arriving, Mitchel Maranzana, 28, of Stirling was arrested for impaired operation. After further investigation, Maranzana was charged with impaired operation by drug/alcohol, operate with over 80 mgs, and operate while prohibited. Maranzana was later released with a first appearance date of March 9, 2023.
Domestic assault
On February 18, 2023 at 615 p.m., Belleville police were called to a North Park Street address regarding a domestic dispute. Officers arrived on scene and located the caller who indicated that she and her husband been in a physical altercation. The male had left the house prior to police arrival. Officers located the caller’s husband at another residence and he provided evidence that he had been bitten during the altercation. As a result, the 45-year-old Belleville woman was charged with spousal assault. She was later released with a March 20, 2023 court date.
Stolen vehicle recovered.
On February 19, 2023 at 5 a.m., Belleville police were called to a west end apartment complex regarding a female slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. Police arrived and observed the female in an orange Dodge Journey which had been reported stolen earlier in the week from a Station Street dealership. Angie Nolan, 32, of Belleville was charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of fail to comply with a probation order. Nolan will appear in court on March 23, 2023.
Traffic incident
On February 20, 2023 at 1:45 a.m., a Belleville police officer on patrol observed a black Subaru driving dangerously on Sidney Street. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle fled. The driver abandoned the vehicle on Sherwood Crescent a short time later. The K9 Unit was called in to track the suspect; however, he was not located. Anyone who has footage or information of this male driving or fleeing the police is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
