A cheddar cheese from a local cheesemaker is being recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The agency says the one-year-old small batch cheddar cheese by Maple Dale Cheese in Plainfield was recently put under a recall order due to possible listeria contamination.
The best before date is August 21.
The public should not consume that particular brand of cheese and either throw it out or return it to the storeĀ that sold it. The product has been sold only in Ontario.
Listeria contamination can cause flu-like symptoms in most people but more severe illness in some others.
