Prince Edward County is preparing to approve its 2023 budget, and residents might find they owe a little more come tax time.
Council previously approved a $41.1 million capital plan which includes work to improve roads, bridges, emergency vehicles and other assets. This was approved along with $25.1 million for water and wastewater.
The new proposed tax levy for 2023 is a 5.1% increase, or a $51.85 increase per $100,000 in home value.
That means a home worth $600,000 would pay $311.00 more a year in property tax.
Budget talks are planned to take place during a series of special council meetings held at Highline Hall on February 22, 23 and 24.
