The Belleville Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead then held on to beat the visiting Syracuse Crunch 4-2 to kick off a four-game home stand.
Angus Crookshank scored twice on the power play giving him a team-leading 17 goals.
Also scoring was Cole Cassels (sixth) who extended his point streak to four games while Jake Luccini (11th) iced it with an empty netter.
Antoine Bibeau turned aside 34 shots to give interim head coach David Bell his first AHL victory while snapping a three-game losing skid. Bell says, “Bibeau was outstanding. If he doesn’t have that first period, we’re not in the game.”
Syracuse outshot Belleville 36-32.
Belleville is six points out of a playoff spot in the AHL North Division. They settle in for a triple header with the Laval Rocket Friday and Saturday night and Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. (Family Day) at the CAA Arena.
