Maple in the County is back after the three year COVID-19 shutdown.
The event that celebrates maple syrup season in Prince Edward County is back in full swing in the upcoming spring season.
You can expect to see big operations with about 7,000 trees tapped and smaller ones with about 900 taps.
There are tasting opportunities as you visit the various farms.
Maple syrup producer Ron Hubbs tells Quinte News that figuring out what syrup is best is all a matter of individual taste.
“There’s no real best grade of maple syrup. It’s your own personal taste preference. So most places offer, like tastings, you know, so you can pick the grade you like.”
Hubbs says it’s a learning experience.
“You can learn how sugar’s made and you learn how syrup’s made. You can learn how maple butter’s made and get to kind of taste all these products.”
A special Maple in the County event runs on March 25 and March 26.
Hubbs says, “The Maple in the County event is noted as being Prince Edward County’s largest festival.
The maple syrup season runs from early March into April.
