There is no longer a Reeve or Deputy Reeve in Tyendinaga Township.
Last week Council approved a title change for the top two members of council from Reeve and Deputy Reeve to Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
All documentation and correspondence will from now on refer to Mayor Claire Kennelly and Deputy Mayor Heather Lang.
Mayor Kennelly suggested the change after attending the ROMA Conference where many attendees were not familiar with the term reeve and noted that very few municipalities within Ontario were using the title.
Council approved the change at its February 6 meeting.
