The Wellington Dukes defeated the Trenton Golden Hawks 6-3 on Friday night to claim the Hasty Ps Cup.
Barrett Joynt, David Campbell, Matheson Mason, and Edward Moskowitz scored for the Dukes. Adam OMarra and Matthew Cato scored for the Golden Hawks.
The Dukes opened scoring just after five minutes into the first period, and the Golden Hawks tied the game up shortly after. The teams remained neck in neck until an explosive second period saw the Dukes pull ahead of the Golden Hawks with three goals to the Golden Hawks’ one. The Golden Hawks couldn’t catch up and despite a late goal in the third period, the Dukes claimed another two to increase their lead and take home the win.
With this win the Dukes claim their third win in the best of five Hasty Ps Cup Series with the Golden Hawks, and claim the cup for the ’22-’23 season.
Meanwhile in local Junior C action, the Picton Pirates beat the Frankford Huskies 6-2.
