The Cleveland Monsters mashed the Belleville Senators 6-2 on Friday night.
Scott Sabourin and Jonathan Aspirot scored for the Senators.
The Monsters opened up scoring early in the first period with two unanswered goals before claiming three more in the second to make the score a devastating 5-0 for the Monsters going into the third period. During the third, the Senators finally got on the board but it was too little, too late as despite two goals from the Senators, the Monsters found the back of the net yet again and took the win.
Belleville Senators Interim Head Coach David Bell was not happy with the team’s performance.
“You get what you work for, right? If you don’t work what you get is a shellacking. Very preventable very disappointing but they got what they deserved, we got what we deserved,” said Bell. “There’s got to be something in your belly that wants you to win the race to the corner, win the boxes out in front of the net, get to the inside in their end and they wanted it more. You know what, they were tied for points going into the game and they wanted those two points more than we did.”
The Belleville Senators go for the rematch on Saturday at 1 p.m.
