Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site is celebrating in a big way this year with two anniversaries.
Glanmore site is marking its 50th anniversary as a museum and 140th year since construction of the heritage building with special events, exhibitions and programs throughout the year.
During an Open House, the public can take the opportunity to see the results of the historic house’s recent carpet restoration project and find out more about Glanmore’s 50th anniversary plans.
The Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County and the Hastings County Historical Society will each have a display on-site.
Participants can “Ask an Archivist” with Archivist Amanda Hill to learn more about the work the archives does to preserve local history documents. Local author and historian Connie Carson will be on hand to sell and sign her latest book More Belleville Memories.
The museum is also encouraging visitors to bring along photographs and newspaper clippings they may have relating to Belleville in the year 1973 or pertaining to Glanmore at any point during its history.
Staff will be on hand to chat about the materials, which could greatly inform the museum’s anniversary exhibition, launching later this spring.
Admission to the Heritage Open House is FREE with a donation of a non-perishable food item to Gleaners Food Bank.

The inaugural event will be an Open House held at Glanmore on Saturday, February 25 from 1 to 4:30 p.m., to mark Heritage Week in Ontario.
