The City of Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee has approved a rezoning amendment to a big housing development planned to come to Belleville’s west end.
This would allow a 10-storey apartment building to be built on the north section of the former Ben Bleecker building property.
Special provisions are in place that would allow “lot frontage, exterior side yard, parking setbacks, parking requirements, bicycle parking requirements, landscaped area, and building height.”
The apartment is set to hold 107 units.
Meantime, the amendment would also allow 25 townhouses to be built on the right side of the area.
Special provisions are also in place that would allow “yard depths, building height, parking setbacks, private amenity area, communal amenity area, and fence height.”
It’s expected that one developer will build the apartment building and another developer will build the townhouses.
A commercial plaza is planned for the southern part of the property.
A holding symbol remains unchanged, meaning the following conditions must be met before development: an Environmental Site Assessment, environmental remediation, and file a Record of Site Condition.
