The following press release was sent by the Belleville General Hospital Foundation.
Today Bob Piche of Ottawa, Ontario won the first Early Bird Prize for the Belleville General Hospital Foundation Camp for Cancer 2023 Super Draw, in partnership with local RV dealer Carl Cox RV. Those who purchased their Camp for Cancer tickets before January 26 were eligible for the first of four additional Early Bird Draws as well as a brand new Forest River Salem RV, valued at over $45,000. Funds raised through this vital initiative will go directly to equipment purchases and drug therapy funding at the BGH Dr Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic. When reached to tell him the good news that he had won $1000 Bob said, ‘Win or lose, it all goes to a good cause.” But he is ready to go if he wins the camper too.
With one in three Canadians diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, Belleville General Hospital acts as a regional oncology centre, providing lifesaving treatment across the entire Quinte Health Catchment. With Cancer Clinic visits increasing from 15,768 visits in 2019/2020 to 19,481 visits in 2020/2021, the need is growing. Improving survival rates, population growth and aging means ever-increasing numbers of Ontarians will be living with cancer into the future.
Explained BGHF Executive Director Steven Cook, “The Lotto Super Draw initiatives are critical to Cancer Care in our region which is why we are offering three Super Draws in 2023.” While supporting a great cause, buyers have up to five chances to win. New this year, the Early Bird Draws take place the week following the Early Bird Deadline. That means one lucky person will win $1,000 each month.
