The Belleville Senators like playing in Laval and Wednesday night they proved it again by coming from behind to beat the Rocket 2-1 in the Montreal suburb.
Jake Luccini tied the game midway in the third period leading to the overtime winner by Scott Sabourin at 2:15 of the extra period. It was his career best 14th of the season.
Kevin Mandolese turned aside 33 shots.
The B-Sens are 6-2 against the Rocket this season and have won four of five in Laval.
That was a nice way to start a three-game road trip while snapping a five-game losing streak.
Belleville moves on to Springfield Massachusetts to face the Thunderbirds Friday and Saturday night.
The question facing Belleville is will goaltender Kevin Mandolese be going with them or heading to Toronto to join the NHL Senators.
Ottawa’s Cam Talbot sustained a lower body injury inWednesday night’s 2-1 win over the New York Islanders which could prompt a recall of Mandolese.
The Senators play the Maple Leafs in Toronto Friday night.
