Stunt driving
On January 24, 2023 at approximately 8:53 p.m., Belleville police were conducting traffic enforcement on North Front Street. Officers observed a vehicle travelling at extreme speeds of 108 km/h in the 50km/h zone. The driver, a 20-year-old Belleville man, was subsequently charged with stunt driving, had his driver’s licence suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle impounded for 14 days. The driver was served a summons with a court date of March 6, 2023.
Impaired driving
On January 25, 2023 at approximately 12:20 a.m., Belleville police located an occupied vehicle stopped at the side of a street in the north end of the city. Upon investigating, officers arrested the driver for impaired operation. Glenn Reed, 39, of Belleville was charged with operation while impaired by drug/alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mgs. Reed was released with a court date of February 16, 2023. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days, and Reed received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
