At first, the goal for medical equipment and furniture for a brand new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital was $16.5 million.
But because of COVID-19 delays, supply chain issues, and high inflation, that goal had to be upped to $27 million.
However, according to the Executive Director of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Shannon Coull, the increase didn’t faze county residents and with four years left to go $21 million has already been raised.
Meanwhile, Foundation Board Chair Barbara McConnell told the Quinte Health Board of Directors that the Foundation is looking at adjusting its mandate to include fundraising to help recruit medical staff for the county.
