Almost $30,000 has been raised by the United Way in partnership with local car dealers.
The United Way Hastings and Prince Edward announced on Friday that their 2022 annual Cars for Community fundraiser brought in $29,450 of donations, bringing the total raised by the yearly fundraiser since it began to $111,000.
Jenn Smith, Director of Donor Relations for the United Way Hastings Prince Edward, said they were very pleased with the continuing support they received from the community.
“The Cars for Community initiative first began in 2019 with a goal of seeing potentially 10 dealerships across our region take part. We were pleasantly surprised in our first year with 25 dealerships across the region signing up. And at that point we realized the automotive industry in our area was really getting behind this initiative in a big way,” said Smith.
Cars for Community sees the United Way partner with 26 local car dealers to donate $10 for every car sold during September, October and November.
All proceeds stay in the community and go to benefit local programs funded by the United Way.
