A few Belleville police officers were recognized at the City of Belleville’s Police Services Board meeting on Thursday for their handling of the Styrofoam fire back in October.
Officers were recognized for a variety of things including conducting traffic away from the fire scene, evacuating residents in the area of the fire and assisting Belleville Fire Dispatch with putting out the blaze.
The following were recognized for their work regarding the October 2 blaze on Station Street.

- Constable Matthew Sly
- Constable Chris Tijssen
- Constable Laura White
- Constable Michael Hart
- Constable Jordan Wells
- Constable Scott Tinsley
- Constable Lindsay Stevenson
Other officers were also recognized for handling of other incidents.
The previously mentioned Constable Matthew Sly was additionally recognized for exemplary work regarding a home invasion on August 23, 2022.
Constable Steven Genore and Constable Taylor Crawford were recognized for their efforts in helping a person in crisis.
