One person is dead following a serious work incident in Belleville’s Industrial Park over the weekend.
Quinte News has received details from several sources in regards to a serious incident at 640 College Street East.
The site is under construction and is a one million square foot light industrial warehouse, rumoured to be an Amazon Distribution Centre.
The Coroner and Ministry of Labour are investigating the death and the job site is currently closed.
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills tells Quinte News that on Saturday January 14, they were notified of an incident at a construction project in Belleville.
They have confirmed that one person sustained fatal injuries and their condolences go out to friends and family.
The company overseeing the project, KCK Contracting, has received a two ministry orders.
The constructor Broccolini Construction and secondary employers Canam Group Inc., and Enterprises Eric Lemire Inc., received ministry requirements, although the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills has not released what they were.
The ministry concluded that since the investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further.
