The results of the Christmas Bird Count are in.
Tom Wheatley of the Belleville Bird Count tells Mary Thomas of Quinte News a group of 18 birders and three feeder watchers recorded 56 species of birds on December 27.
Wheatley says there was an unusual sighting.
“We had one duck called the Ruddy Duck…Ruddy. We generally just see them on spring or fall migration and even then they’re uncommon, but there was one hanging around under the Bay Bridge. It’s normally further south.”
You can hear more on the bird count when Tom Wheatley joins Mary Thomas on Newsmaker Sunday, this Sunday at the noon hour, on 800 CJBQ.
