Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams continued speaking to city councils in the Bay of Quinte area about tackling some of Canada’s biggest challenges.
Williams spoke at the Quinte West City Council on Wednesday.
Among the topics discussed by MP Williams was mental health.
“The number one thing we need for health care in this region is counsellors,” Williams told Quinte West Council
“So again, we know we need doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners. We also need counsellors and crisis counsellors and mental health. Too often people who need help have to wait a long time to see a counsellor. Certainly it’s the number one thing that people need.”
Also addressed in his speech to council was affordable housing.
Williams spoke of a story he had received.
“Late this week, a woman’s landlord was evicting her, because they had another tenant who would pay more rent,” Williams recounted. “We tried to stop that and sometimes it happens and they can’t find another place to rent or they can’t find a place for affordable rent and it breaks your heart.”
Williams also spoke about infrastructure and Train 651.
