Loyalist College and Belleville Transit have partnered for a pilot project to support student commuters.
Loyalist College student transit ambassadors are on site at the Belleville Bus Terminal helping students navigate local bus routes and offering step-by-step guidance to student commuters on transit etiquette, schedules, routes and payment.
The program, which began January 9, was developed in consultation with the City of Belleville with the hope it will ease demand on Belleville Transit workers during peak service hours.
Mark Kirkpatrick, Acting President of Loyalist College, says the partnership was developed in response to recent student and community feedback.
Joe Reid, City of Belleville General Manager of Transportation and Operations Services says, “We know our transit system is an integral part of students’ experience and any way that we can work together to make that experience as smooth as possible is equally beneficial.”
