We are now well into the new year, however we have not teed up every municipality and their intentions and focus on the new year.
We spoke with Centre Hastings Mayor Tom Deline to get the goal for the next 12 months.
He says roads are going to be a priority in 2023.
“I’m hoping were going to be able to keep the tax rate to a reasonable basis and still continue to do annual road work, because that’s so important. If we let that road work go, it takes you years and years to catch up afterwards.”
He says working together with other local municipalities is a good idea with some projects.
“We’re certainly going to have to do a lot more looking at shared services. Quite honestly, I have a funny feeling if I can call it that, that were going to be looking at some major amalgamations, if not one or two tier structures. I think that’s coming. Hopefully in the first of the year, the municipalities through the County level, hopefully they’ll be able to sit down and work out and come up with their own plan.”
Development of housing, along with continuing the construction of the home for the aged which will bring long term care beds to Centre Hastings, are two major priorities.
