The new Reeve of Tyendinaga Township talked to Quinte News about the year ahead.
Claire Kennelly says there are a number of priorities from last year that will continue into 2023.
“2023 presents opportunity for a new council. In the last couple of years, our focus has been in implementing electronic process, including online registration, electronic forms, hybrid council meetings and improvements to our municipal office.”
Kennelly added that inflation is a problem they need to tackle.
“We’ll be starting budget deliberations where we’ll address the challenges of inflation, address the funds needed to maintain – repair our current assets, as per our asset management plan.”
He says having community events back in full force will be something that is not only great for council and staff, but the entire municipality.
The parks, recreation, and trail master plan will be finalized in 2023.
“The plan is going to provide direction for the next ten years. It’s because of the dedicated citizens that have stepped forward to participate in interviews and surveys, I believe that we are going to have a plan that is shaped for our community.”
