Quinte News contacted the Director of Education for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board, to get her focus going into the new year.
Director Katherine MacIver.
“Making sure that we have rigorous and focused learning in all of our classrooms. We’ve talked about raising the bar, making sure that the skills that we’re equipping our students with, whether it be in grade one, grade six, or grade twelve, prepare them for what lies ahead for them.”
“New technologies and modernization. We’ve changed the world of education and how we look at educating students from K through 12.”
She says it is not a one size fits all approach.
“How students can learn differently and in different environments. Think about what is possible for both our system and our students moving forward.”
She says on the infrastructure side of things, work will continue on a number of schools for air exchanges and ventilation work.
The largest construction project continues to be the renovations at Easthill Secondary in Belleville, which is slated for completion this fall.
