2023 is just around the corner.
Quinte News contacted the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce to discuss the year that was, 2022.
Leslie Lavender is the Executive Director for the Chamber and she discussed some of the challenges for businesses in The County.
“The staffing challenges for our businesses, the rising costs, housing, gas prices, supply chain issues.”
She says so often people focus on the tourism component of Prince Edward County, which Lavender said is vital, however it is not the largest industry.
“We have agriculture, that’s our major industry in Prince Edward County. Tourism is second to that. A winery for example is a manufacturer, is a farm, is a retail store, does marketing and business that way.”
“Our businesses are far more complex and I think there’s an awful lot more happening here under the surface, that maybe isn’t as readily seen by the public because they see the visitor experience.”
