Quinte News continues to look back at 2022, and that included a chat with the mayor of Marmora and Lake Jan O’Neil.
For O’Neil, the biggest issue in the past 12 months was the wind storm and the tornado.
She says it was not just private home and landowners that were affected, it was also the municipality.
“Just to clean up our road allowances and make them passable and remove the brush from the roadsides, we were talking about $80,000 to $100,000.”
O’Neil says major damage in the former Lake Township came during the first wind storm.
“Because there’s some areas you wouldn’t even be able to get to, they’re just completely obliterated.”
She says moving into the new year they are hopeful the province and the feds will step forward to help.
