Quinte Health, like all hospitals across Canada and many across the world, had an incredibly busy 2022.
On this day of reflection, Quinte News looks back at the last 12 months.
We chatted with President Stacey Daub.
She says the hospital teams at Quinte Health’s four sites continued to rally again and again.
“All these little kids, because of this respiratory illness that’s been circulating this fall and just watching our four emergency departments, bolt into action to get ready to serve kids in the community and our pediatric unit that’s in Belleville, they just did a phenomenal job.”
“We did that after talking to thousands of people in the community, as well as all the people who work at Quinte. These roles in hospitals, they’re kind of a calling for most people. They went into health care because they wanted to serve patients, serve their communities. One of the things that I think that we’ve really realized is that, a lot of people talk about patients first, but we’ve come to the conclusion that it really has to be people first.”
She says she is so proud of the emergency rooms and all staff for continuing to step up in their calling of serving others.
She described the last few years as tumultuous, and although some in the community believe hospital restrictions are difficult, Daub said no one wants to move past them more than staff at Quinte Health.
Daub finished by stating that they want to get team building and camaraderie back into the fold for staff, as they all help to build one another up.
